General conditions
1. Minimum age
The minimum age for enrollment in general courses is 17 years old
and 14 years old for the Summer Course for Young Students.
2. Responsibility
Escuela Internacional does not assume responsibility for acts
outside of its control (i.e. natural disasters) nor the actions of
the students outside of the study centers.
3. Course levels and schedule
On the first day of the course students take a placement exam to
enter in the appropriate level for each student's proficiency and
needs. At each E.I. Center there are at least 4 different levels.
The majority of the courses are held in the morning, however in
the summer/high season there are some courses held in the
afternoon.
4. Extending your stay
Students who wish to extend the number of weeks they will attend
courses need only to let the E.I. secretary know. All fees for the
extended period must be paid before beginning classes in the new
period.
5. Accommodations
Reservations are made per person on a weekly basis. You may reserve your room from the
Sunday before you start classes until the Saturday after you
complete the course. For your convenience it is possible to request additional days.
The price for accommodations in a host family includes laundry
service (except in Cuernavaca), bed linens and the number of meals
requested.
Students who will live in an apartment in Spain, can pick up the
keys at the place and time indicated on the Registration
Confirmation. The price of apartments is per person and includes
the cost of water and electricity but not gas. Students living in an apartment must
bring their own bed linens and towels.
Students are responsible for any broken or damaged objects due to
poor usage.
6. Airport transfer service.
Those students who request airport transfer service will be met at
the airport by a representative from the chosen center. This
person will assist them in arriving to their accommodations. Those
students who do not request transfer service may go directly to
the address indicated on the Registration Confirmation. In Costa
Rica, transfer service is included in the price of accommodations
in a host family and in an apartment.
7. Medical Insurance and Visas
Since medical and accident insurance are not included in the cost
of the program, we advise those students interested in purchasing
medical insurance through E.I. to check the appropriate box on the
enrollment form. Those students from countries that need a visa to
enter Spain or Latin America should check the appropriate box on
the enrollment form so that the school can send a Certificate of
Enrollment once registration has been completed.
8. Cancellations and shortened programs
The Central Office of Escuela Internacional
must be notified in writing of all cancellations. The enrollment
fee is non-refundable.
Spain and Mexico: If E.I. receives notice of a
cancellation before the course begins, the student will be
refunded all pre-paid course and accommodation fees. The
registration fee is non-refundable. If E.I. receives notice of a
cancellation or a reduction of the program after the course has
begun, the student will be refunded 70 % of the value of the
course and accommodation fees not realized.
Costa Rica: Cancellations made seven days
before the start of the program or after the program begins will
not receive reimbursement of any kind.
9. Changes of center or accommodation
Once the student is enrolled, the student must notify the E.I.
Central Office of any changes in writing. There will be an
administration charge of 30,00 € for each change in center or
accommodation. Once classes have begun, the type of course cannot
be changed. Students may request a change of level from the
Director of Studies, which will be admitted when it serves to
improve the program for the student.
10. Late arrivals and absences
If you will arrive later than the beginning date of the course, it
is best to communicate this to the Registration Center in order to
reserve your place. If you arrive late for a course, or are absent
during the course, no refund will be granted.
11. Misconduct
E.I. reserves the right to refuse admittance in the course and
accommodations returning 70% of the course and accommodation fees
not realized, to any student who exhibits
poor behavior, does not attend classes, or regularly arrives late
to classes.
12. Exceptional changes
E.I. reserves the right to change the course dates and prices
without prior notice. In the case of cancellation of any course,
the student will be reimbursed in full.
13. Acceptance of the General Conditions
Participation in an E.I. course implies knowledge of and
acceptance by the student and/or his/her parent(s) or legal
guardian(s) of all General Conditions included in the E.I.
brochure and Website.
