Long Duration Courses: Semester or Annual (Spain)The Intensive Course: Semester or Annual is ideal for students who want to finally learn to communicate in Spanish well. The content and classes for this course are the same as the Intensive Course, with the advantage of being more economical. In the elementary levels, you learn to understand, speak, read, and write Spanish in simple situations taken from normal life. In the intermediate and advanced levels, the teachers introduce you to more complicated grammatical structures in order to improve your oral and written expression and comprehension. Besides, students who study Spanish abroad in Spain for a longer period of time not only learn the Spanish language more in depth, they also learn and understand Spanish culture more fully, as well as widen their perspective of the world through the international friends they meet during the program.
There are various American Universities that grant credit for Escuela Internacional courses. These students can take advantage of being able to learn Spanish well, enjoy Spanish life, and also earn credit valid at their own university. If you are interested in receiving credit for your course, please contact us at the Escuela Internacional Registration Office before coming to the course in Spain. The lessons included in the Spanish CourseGrammar and Vocabulary (10 lessons per week)You will learn vocabulary, idiomatic phrases, grammar concepts, words, sentence structures, useful phrases and language usage. Lessons are structured so that you will first acquire the new vocabulary and grammatical structures through examples and practice in structured exercises. Then you practice the new concepts in group or pair activities which are patterned after real communicative situations you encounter in everyday life.
Reading/Writing (5 lessons per week)You specifically work on developing and improving reading comprehension and written communication. You will learn strategies for understanding a written text. You will produce written texts with teacher guidance and models. Conversation (5 lessons per week)You specifically work on developing and improving listening comprehension and speaking abilities. There is an emphasis on increasing the students command of communication skills through discussion and exchange of information about social, economical, political and cultural aspects of life in Spain. Increase your awareness of cultural elements which guide the values, behaviors and language use of the Spanish people. Topics vary according to course level. Culture (2 lessons per week)You will learn about Hispanic culture through the study of Spain's art, history, literature, music. You will discover cultural elements such as customs, behaviors, typical dress, foods and leisure time activities and make comparison and contrast with the mix of cultures of the students in your class. Topics vary according to level and student interest.
