Intercambios
“Intercambio” is an exchange of one thing for another. What this means at Escuela Internacional is, a conversation exchange in which a student meets for one hour daily with a native speaker to practice speaking Spanish. The native speaker is usually a university student or professional who is eager to share something about their Spanish language and culture in exchange for you to share something about your language and culture. Half of the time is spent speaking in Spanish and the other half of the time is spent speaking in the second language that your “intercambio” is studying.
This is a free service offered by Escuela Internacional. If you are interested in taking part in an intercambio all you have to do is talk to the secretary at the E.I. center where you are studying. She will consult the list of interested Spanish people to see if there is someone who is trying to learn your mother language. As soon as we have the most appropriate match, we will make an appointment for you to meet your intercambio at the school one day. After we introduce you, the rest is up to you and your intercambio.
This is a wonderful chance to make lifelong friendships and a great way to practice and learn Spanish.
