Costa Rica - Tamarindo
The school is located in a beautiful rainforest
setting just minutes walking from the beach in Tamarindo, Costa Rica. We feel
this is a perfect setting for people who want to learn Spanish while staying in
one of the most beautiful locations in Costa Rica. Tamarindo is a small and scenic community of Costa Rica's Pacific coast
not far from the airport in Liberia. You
can learn Spanish while you explore nature and enjoy surfing and other outdoor
adventures.
History of Tamarindo
With its pristine beaches, crystal clear blue waters, superb natural
surroundings, and near perfect weather, it is no wonder that Tamarindo is among
the most popular vacation destinations in Costa Rica. A former fishing village
in the northern regions of Guanacaste province on the North Pacific Coast,
Tamarindo is the area’s most well developed tourist town.
Tamarindo Today
The beaches here are
truly excellent, and the entire town has an easy going feel making it a
super place for anyone looking to have a good time. Surfing and windsurfing conditions here
are nearly perfect for experienced as
well as novice surfers, Tamarindo is probably the most easy to reach beach town on
the country’s entire northern Pacific Coast. Besides all the activities the
beach area offers - sunbathing, surfing, swimming, snorkeling and scuba diving,
sailing, kayaking, jet skiing, boogie boarding and horseback riding - visit the nearby wildlife refuge of Diria, as well as the Marino
Las Baulas National Park, where leatherback turtles come every summer to nest
and breed. The long, white sand beaches and clear waters attract
turtle watchers and nature lovers all year round.
Though it is a great tourist destination, the town and area still have a very
Costa Rican feel. Local fisherman and farmers still live and work as their
families have for generations before them. Tamarindo also offers a plethora of
nightlife including restaurants, night clubs, concerts and a casino. You are
never far from a party if you are in Tamarindo. The lively locals and travelers
rejoice and relax after a long day in the sun.
