Playa del Carmen - Activities and Excursions
The
E.I. Center in Playa del Carmen organizes cultural activities and excursions of
1 or 2 days to help you take the best advantage of your stay.
The first day of class you will have a guided walk around
Playa del Carmen. You will be shown the most important things for day-to-day
life (how to use the buses, where to get money from bank machines, places for
daily purchases, Internet cafes, etc.). The rest of the week is filled out with
a great variety of optional activities organized by the school to re-enforce
your knowledge and help you apply what you have learned in class, as well as
give you an opportunity to immerse yourself further in the Mexican culture and
get to know the rest of the students at the school.
The activities take place during the afternoons or evenings and include classes
for cooking and Latin dance (salsa and merengue), in the projection room at the
school you'll see videos, visits are organized to museums and historic landmarks,
informal outings to cafes, lectures about history, culture, Mexican politics and
economics, and much more.
On weekends come and join us on excursions organized by the school and guided by
teachers to visit the nearby cities and villages, for example the pyramid of
Coba which is 120 meters high, or to Chitchen-Itza, one of the largest and most
important archeological sites in all of Mexico. Also visit the city of Merida
which features colonial style architecture, the largest and most beautiful city on the Yucatan
peninsula.
